MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Southwestern Energy Company (SWN) sponsored the 2017 Southwestern Energy Charity Golf Tournament to benefit WVU Medicine Children’s on Aug. 17 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown.

Seventy different vendors in West Virginia’s oil and gas sector participated, and more than 200 people were involved in the event. Through the generosity of the participants and sponsors, SWN was able to donate $130,240 to support the sick and injured children at WVU Medicine Children’s.

“It was a pleasure to be able to partner with WVU Medicine Children’s again this year and to be able to provide synergy between Southwestern Energy and our industry,” Chris Flanagan, area manager for SWN’s West Virginia Division, said. “It is truly a ‘one team’ approach, and we are very grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute to such an extraordinary hospital that provides needs to children across the state of West Virginia and the surrounding region.”

This year marked the third consecutive year that SWN has donated to WVU Medicine Children’s. Last year’s golf outing raised $96,000.

“We continue to be overwhelmed by the support of the employees at Southwestern Energy,” Cheryl Jones, R.N. director of WVU Medicine Children’s, said. “The funds raised by this year’s sponsors and participants have a direct impact on providing the highest quality care for our patients.”

SWN takes its focus on producing energy beyond the drill site by harnessing the power of its people and the philanthropy of the industry to create positive change. Through its corporate-wide giving program, Social Energy, SWN is strengthening the company’s social impact through volunteerism and charitable giving.
