MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior defender
Bianca St. Georges has been named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I women's soccer, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
An exercise physiology major with a 4.00 grade point average (GPA), St. Georges, a two-time team captain, is the second WVU women's soccer player to earn Academic All-America® of the Year honors in six seasons, as Frances Silva garnered the accolade in 2013.
St. Georges is now a two-time Academic All-America® First Team honoree and a three-time award recipient. Nine different Mountaineer women's soccer student-athletes have earned 13 Academic All-America® honors since 2001, and WVU has had at least one honoree each season since 2013.

Nikki Izzo-Brown said. "She does everything at a high level. She is studying one of the hardest majors in the country, and she is constantly pushing that standard of excellence in the classroom and on the field.
"Like Frances before, Bianca has proven that the West Virginia University women's soccer program allows you to achieve your academic and playing goals. This University provides student-athletes the opportunity to earn excellent degrees and to extend their playing careers to the professional and national team levels."
A native of St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, St. Georges was a finalist for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award and a Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Candidate. In her four years at WVU, she helped the Mountaineers claim four Big 12 titles, including the 2018 Big 12 Soccer Championship crown, and make four consecutive NCAA Championship appearances.
Last week, St. Georges earned her first two career All-America honors, as she was named to the Senior CLASS Award All-America First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team.
Named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team, St. Georges is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree. A member of the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, she also is a President's List honoree and a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
A four-year starter at outside back, St. Georges, the 2018 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, helped the Mountaineers post 12 clean sheets this season. She ranked No. 2 on the team with seven goals and 14 points, both single season career-best showings, and earned a pair of braces in wins over No. 13 Texas and Oklahoma. St. Georges finished the season a perfect five-for-five from the penalty line.
A two-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree, St. Georges started 80-of-81 career matches.
