WVU Department of Pediatrics to present Gwendolyn Hogan Lectureship series

The WVU Department of Pediatrics and WVU Medicine Children’s are hosting the Gwendolyn Hogan Lectureship on Wed., April 27, featuring Nadia Tremonti, M.D., an assistant professor of pediatrics at University Pediatricians and Central Michigan University.

 The lecture series kicks-off at 8 a.m. in the Health Sciences Center Fukushima Auditorium (room 1901), participants can gather for “Hospice/Palliative Medicine 101,” a Grand Rounds presentation.

The Grand Rounds will explore:

  • Common causes of morbidity and mortality in children in the United States, comparing and contrasting to the adult population.
  • Unique psychsocial and medical dynamics to the provision of care in severe chronic and life-threatening conditions in the pediatric population.
  • Federal and state plicies regarding the provision of palliative care and hospice to pediatric population, specifically addressing Section 2302 of the Affordable Care Act, "Concurrent Care for Children."

At noon, Dr. Tremonti, who also serves as medical director of the Pediatric Palliative Care Team at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, will present “Palliative Care Pet Peeves,” in room 1909, followed by a question-and-answer session at 1 p.m.

Termoni also serves as the physician leader for the Angela Hospice My Nest is Best pediatric program.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits may be available for participants.
