West Virginia University School of Medicine seeks a Neurology Physician (academic ranks available: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) for its School of Medicine Eastern Division regional campus. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of neurology. In addition to providing patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO or foreign equivalent. State medical license and DEA registration is required by start date. Successful candidate must have completed an ACEMG certified neurology residency program. Successful candidate must be board certified/eligible in Neurology. Expertise in/knowledge of Neuromuscular or Neurophysiology required.  All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The position is a blend of inpatient and outpatient schedule with responsibility of delivering high quality health care. Manageable call schedule with 24/7 Telestroke services used for acute stroke management. Successful candidate(s) will join an academically oriented, supportive, collegial group with a focus on evidence-based medicine, progressive teaching, and research. The general neurology practice sees a wide variety of neurologic conditions, including epilepsy/seizure disorders, stroke, chronic headaches/ migraines, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer disease. Opportunities also exist to develop subspecialty interests. West Virginia University Medicine is very supportive of the use of Advance Practice Providers to enhance patient care and has outstanding clinical and administrative support staff to maximize the day-to-day operations of the office.

Our Eastern Panhandle location is little more than an hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with the easy accessibility to the Washington DC / Baltimore areas make the Eastern Panhandle an ideal place in which to live. While our Berkeley County is among the fastest growing counties in the state, there is little congestion and traffic. In recent years, a steady influx of urban professionals from nearby Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland - have contributed to the growth of local telecommuting and high-tech industries.
