What does a typical day in the life of a surgeon include?

Caffeine, family, clinic/OR, research/reading, family

What is the biggest challenge of being a surgeon?

Schedule isn’t flexible. You can’t just leave in the middle of a surgery

How do you foresee surgery changing over the next 20 years?

More minimally invasive, more subspecialties, longer training.

What advice would you give a student who is considering a surgery residency?

If it’s what you love- do it. Don’t think you can’t have a family because you go into surgery.
