Welcome to the Medical Physics Residency at West Virginia University.

The Radiation Oncology Department of WVU Medicine offers a two-year residency training program in Therapeutic Medical Physics. The program was designed with guidance from the accreditation standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) TG 249.

We operate within the WVU Cancer Institute and J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. As a tertiary care facility, our residents can expect a large variety of challenging clinical cases that provide learning opportunities they would not have elsewhere.

We have multiple partner hospitals within our WVU Health System network that work with us to bring care closer to home. This provides our residents with the experience of creating turn-key packages of advanced treatments and clinical services that can be deployed at other sites.

Graduates of our program can expect to be competent medical physicists who can work in a variety of careers, including academic medicine, clinical practice, and within industry and regulatory agencies.
