Berkeley Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program welcomes newly-matched residents for 2026

The West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Eastern Campus will welcome six new residents to the Berkeley Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in July.

The program welcomes incoming residents Lou'ay Hussein from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Wendy Jent from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Zahra Mahmood from Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Pakistan, Ali Sarabi from Hacettepe University in Turkey, Arashpreet Singh from the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, and Orane Wallen from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada.

This is the second class to join the program, following its launch in 2025, and will be the first to train under the mentorship of senior residents.

“I am thrilled to welcome our second class of residents to the Eastern Campus, and our entire team is excited to welcome them to the Berkeley Medical Center family,” said Ryan McCarthy, M.D., residency program director. “Our program is having an excellent first year, and it is exciting to bring in our next class of physicians. Our entire campus has embraced this residency with open arms, and we are looking forward to growing and learning together.”

The Berkeley Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency offers a three-year curriculum that provides residents with comprehensive internal medicine training and a full complement of specialty practices. The program also features four unique signature programs, each aimed at addressing major health concerns in West Virginia and the surrounding region.
