Call for Ideas: Mountaineers Go First—250 Years of Medical Innovation in West Virginia
As the U.S. prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, the William A. Neal Museum of the Health Sciences is seeking knowledge and ideas to ensure broad representation of West Virginia’s leaders in medicine for a 2026-2027 exhibit.
In preparation for this exhibition, the Neal Museum will consider submissions of people, events, institutions, or other ideas for inclusion in the exhibit.
These submissions should be examples of where West Virginia or West Virginians led the way in medical innovation, led the development of a medical field, etc.
Submissions can be related to any medical field and can be from any period, from colonial America to the present.
Submitted ideas will be further researched and curated into a final exhibition narrative.
All submitted ideas will be considered, but all may not be included in the final exhibit.
Deadline to submit is January 30, 2026.
