Exciting Changes to the Longitudinal Teaching Scholars Program: A More Flexible, Impactful Format Begins Fall 2025

The Faculty Development Office is pleased to announce a new structure for the Longitudinal Teaching Scholars Program (LTSP), launching with the 2025–2027 cohort. This reimagined format is designed to better meet the needs of busy health sciences faculty while continuing to deliver high-quality, meaningful professional development.

What’s Changing?

The LTSP will now meet four times during the fall and four times during the winter with meetings occurring over the course of a Thursday afternoon and a full day Friday. This consolidated format allows faculty to engage in deeper learning while freeing up weekly calendar space. Sessions will take place across various months, providing an immersive, yet manageable cadence.

Key Benefits:

  • Greater accessibility for faculty with limited weekday availability.

  • Focused learning blocks that allow for richer discussion, hands-on workshops, and peer collaboration.

Research-Focused Second Year:

In year two of the program, each Teaching Scholar will develop or partner on an educational research project with monthly check-ins for mentorship and accountability. All projects will culminate in a presentation at the revamped Teaching Scholars Summer Institute, offering scholars a platform to share their work and contribute to the growing scholarship of teaching and learning.

What to Expect:

The updated schedule includes timely and relevant topics such as:

  • Introduction to Educational Theory

  • Curriculum Design and Assessment

  • Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods

  • Artificial Intelligence in Health Professions Education

  • Educational Leadership and more

Whether you are a new educator or an experienced faculty member looking to expand your skills, the Longitudinal Teaching Scholars Program offers a dynamic, supportive environment to grow, reflect, and lead.
