MEDIA ADVISORY: Documentary featuring stories of West Virginia’s blind and visually impaired youth to debut during special screening event at WVU

WHAT: The WVU Eye Institute and Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences hosts a screening event for the new documentary “Sight Unseen.”

WHEN: The screening event will be held on Friday, January 23, from 5 – 8 p.m. Photo, filming and interview opportunities will be available prior to the screening from 4 – 5:30 p.m. See the full schedule of events below:

  • 5 – 5:50 p.m. – Reception and Cocktail Hour
  • 5:50 – 6:15 p.m. – Welcome & Opening Remarks
  • 6:15 – 7:25 p.m. – Documentary Screening: Sight Unseen
  • 7:25 – 7:45 p.m. – Q&A Panel
  • 7:45 p.m. – Closing Remarks and Thank You

ADDITIONAL INFO:  CVRP is a needs-based outreach program offered through the WVU Eye Institute and WVU Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. CVRP responds to the needs of visually impaired children, their parents and related professionals across the entire state of West Virginia.

“Sight Unseen” was filmed over more than a year in locations across West Virginia. The documentary shares the stories of several local blind and visually impaired teens and how their experiences through CVRP have shaped and impacted their lives.
