Potomac Valley Hospital Celebrates Major Campus Expansion and Opening of New Medical Arts Pavilion
WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital (PVH) marked two major milestones Friday (Feb. 13) in its continued growth and investment in the community: a groundbreaking ceremony for a multimillion-dollar expansion and a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of its new Medical Arts Pavilion.
Together, these projects reflect WVU Medicine’s long-term commitment to strengthening healthcare access, infrastructure, and workforce development across Mineral County and the greater Potomac Highlands region.
The expansion represents an $8.2 million investment, including $7.2 million for a significant enlargement of the Emergency Department (ED) and a $1 million grant for operating room upgrades. The project will modernize critical areas and position PVH to meet rapidly growing patient demand.
“This is about investing in the future of healthcare in our community,” Mark Boucot, president and CEO of Potomac Valley Hospital and WVU Medicine Garrett Regional Medical Center, said. “Our Emergency Department volumes have nearly doubled over the past five years. These improvements ensure we can continue caring for our neighbors with compassion, efficiency, and excellence, treating every patient like family.”
The ED expansion will add four additional treatment rooms, bringing the total to 12 exam rooms and four fast-track bays, along with a new patient and family consultation room. The project also includes expansion of the six-bed observation unit and improvements to the laboratory, patient registration, lobby, and gift shop.
