Statewide MATCH health survey returns in 2025
The West Virginia Department of Human Services and West Virginia University Health Affairs Institute are thrilled to announce that the Mountain State Assessment of Trends in Community Health (MATCH) survey is back in 2025, and data collection is now underway. The survey asks questions about physical and mental health, access to healthcare, and health-related behaviors. The goal of MATCH is to better understand the health of West Virginians and match community health needs with resources specifically designed to meet those needs.
Participants are selected through a randomized process that includes households from all 55 counties in West Virginia. If selected, you will receive a survey invitation in the mail with a choice for how you would like to complete the survey: online, by mail, or by phone. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary. Your choice to participate in this survey has no effect on your current or future state benefits that you are or may be eligible to receive now or in the future.
Data collected through the MATCH survey can be used to:
-
Allow policymakers to use data to make better decisions about health policies.
-
Measure the effectiveness of State health programs and find areas for improvement.
-
Create tools that community groups can use to include MATCH data when applying for grants or funding to bring resources to their communities.
-
Measure trends in healthcare access, mental and physical health, and other key health outcomes at the state and local levels.
Information submitted to this survey is confidential and cannot be traced back to the individual. The MATCH survey has also been reviewed by WVU’s Institutional Review Board. For more information, visit or email.
