WVU Department of Medicine ends 2025 with special grand rounds presentation from Dr. Jessi Gold
The West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine capped off its grand round sessions for the year with a special presentation from nationally recognized psychiatrist and wellness leader Jessi Gold, M.D., MS.
Dr. Gold serves as the first chief wellness officer for the University of Tennessee System, where she oversees wellness initiatives across five campuses and more than 64,000 students. In addition to this administrative role, Gold also serves as an associate professor for the University of Tennessee’s Department of Psychiatry.
Gold visited the WVU Health Sciences Campus for the grand rounds session on December 12, where she gave a presentation titled “The Courage to be Human: The Power of Vulnerability, Meaning and Connection in Healthcare.”
The presentation focused on burnout, mental health and the importance of fostering supportive cultures within healthcare systems. Gold’s presentation prompted meaningful discussions among the faculty, staff and trainees in attendance, highlighting shared challenges and practical strategies for sustaining wellbeing in demanding clinical environments.
Internationally recognized for her work, Gold is a sought-after speaker, author, media advocate and mental health consultant, with a particular focus on healthcare workers, college students and professionals in the entertainment industry.
