WVU Health Sciences Eastern Campus launches grand rounds series with presentation on sleep medicine

The West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Eastern Campus will kick off a new grand rounds series with a special presentation on Monday, Feb. 2, from Sunil Sharma, M.D., professor and division chief for the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine from WVU’s main campus.

The presentation will be held on Monday, February 2, at noon in the auditorium located on the first floor of the WVU Health Sciences Center – Eastern Division in Martinsburg, and virtually via Zoom. Lunch will be provided.

Attendance is open to all students, residents, fellows and faculty members.

Dr. Sharma’s presentation is titled “Unmasking sleep in the hospital: Implementing the new Sleep CPG across the system hospitals.”

Sharma serves as the program director for the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program and the appointed medical director for the Department of Respiratory Therapy. His research interests include cardiovascular implications of sleep disorders, hospital sleep medicine, pulmonary hypertension and health care disparities, authoring many publications around those subjects.

Prior to joining the WVU School of Medicine faculty in 2019, Sharma served as the chair for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care for the Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the director of pulmonary sleep medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he developed a novel hospital sleep medicine program.
