WVU School of Medicine announces expansions of two residency programs for 2026
With the spring semester in full swing and fourth-year medical students eagerly looking ahead to learning their match destinations in March, the West Virginia University School of Medicine is excited to announce expansions to two of its residency programs.
The programs that received Graduate Medical Education approval to expand their annual cohort in 2026 include the Otolaryngology Residency Program and the Radiology Residency Program.
The Otolaryngology Residency Program is led by Brian Kellermeyer, M.D., and is supported by 16 full-time faculty members representing each sub-specialty in the field.
The Radiology Residency Program is led by Cara Lombard, M.D. and is the only university-based academic radiology residency program in the state of West Virginia.
“As we look ahead to welcoming newly-matched residents to all of our programs this spring, we are excited to continue providing increased opportunities for young physicians through expansion to our programs,” said Sarah Sofka, M.D., associate dean for graduate medical education.
These expansions come on the heels of a substantial year of growth for the School of Medicine, which launched 10 new programs and expanded the annual class size of nine pre-existing programs in 2025. To learn more about these expansions, click here.
