WVU School of Pharmacy’s Beta Eta Chapter earns national honors at Kappa Psi convention

The West Virginia University School of Pharmacy’s Beta Eta Chapter recently returned from their fraternity’s Grand Council Convention with a growing list of national honors, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to service, scholarship, and leadership.

The 62nd annual Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Grand Council Convention was held July 29-Aug. 2 in Dallas, Texas. The event brought together collegiate and graduate members to conduct fraternity business, share chapter initiatives, and celebrate achievements.

During a special awards luncheon, Beta Eta received the Reach Out and Read Impact Award, which recognizes a collegiate chapter for creative and impactful efforts that help advance the literacy nonprofit’s mission. The chapter also earned a Top Performing Chapter Pinnacle Award, placing it among the nation’s eight highest-performing collegiate chapters.

Dylan Martin (P4) received the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Industry Award for Exceptional Member Recognition, honoring his outstanding work within the profession of pharmacy. While alumnus Matt Whiteman (PharmD ’19), who serves as Beta Eta’s grand council deputy, received the Grand Council Deputy Outstanding Achievement Award, presented annually to one deputy nationwide for exemplary leadership and support of an assigned chapter.

Beta Eta members also earned the fraternity’s two highest scholarship awards. Martin received the Kappa Psi Foundation Reisetter Scholarship, while Hanna Jandrain (P4) received the Kappa Psi Foundation NPP 99er’s Scholarship.

The convention also provided an opportunity for students to showcase the chapter’s work through poster presentations. Martin and Kaelyn Ray (P3), presented “Building Brotherhood Beyond Chapter Borders: Hosting the Fall 2025 Mountain East Province Assembly,” highlighting the chapter’s planning and leadership efforts as host of the assembly. Jackie Berreras (P2) and Jandrain presented “Advancing Childhood Literacy Through Chapter-Wide Engagement with Reach Out and Read,” which focused on the chapter’s 5K fundraiser benefiting Reach Out and Read, Kappa Psi’s national philanthropy.
