Prescott honored for contributions to medical education

Former Dean for the West Virginia University School of Medicine John Prescott, M.D., was honored by the Pan American Federation of Associations of Medical Schools for his contributions to medical education in the Americas.

Before he served as dean for the School, Prescott was also chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, where he currently holds professor emeritus status, and later went on to serve as president and CEO of University Health Associates.

Prescott also served as chief academic officer at the Association of American Medical Colleges from 2008 to 2021. He is board-certified in emergency medicine.

The Pan American Federation of Associations of Medical Schools an international, non-governmental organization with more than 650 affiliated medical schools, and aims to promote the development and excellence of medical education across the Americas region.
