Scholl earns three Pathology Medical Student Awards

Ashley Rose Scholl, MSc, a post-sophomore fellow in the Pathology, Anatomy and Laboratory Medicine (PALM) Department in the West Virginia University School of Medicine, has earned three medical student awards from pathologist professional societies.

The awards include the Association of Pathology Chairs (APC) Society of ‘67 Scholars Travel Award, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Foundation Medical Student Travel Award, and the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Gold Medical Student Award. These awards provide funding for recipients to attend their respective pathology society annual conferences and to present their work. 

"The CAP, ASCP, and APC are committed to attracting the most talented medical students to careers in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine," said Peter Perrotta, MD, chair of PALM. "These awards are a testament to Ms. Scholl’s ambition and dedication to pathology, characteristics that the PALM faculty recognizes on a daily basis."

Scholl plans to pursue a career in pathology and is excited to attend these conferences.

"I’m honored to receive these awards and look forward to meeting and learning from pathology leaders from across the country," she said. "Pathology is a stimulating and challenging field that I'm excited to pursue after completing medical school.”
