Mission Statement
The mission of the WVU SOM chapter of the Catholic Medical Association shall be to form and support future physicians to live and promote the principles of the Catholic Faith in the science and practice of medicine, and to assist its members in becoming the best physicians they can be through the incorporation of their Faith into their practice of medicine.

ARTICLE I. NAME
The name of this organization shall be the West Virginia University School of Medicine chapter of the Catholic Medical Association, or CMA-WVU. ARTICLE II. PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization shall be to serve members through mutual support in living out their Catholic Faith as physicians and physicians-in-training, as well as through training and education in support of the same.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. The voting membership of this organization shall be limited to organization members who are WVU SOM and HSC (to include allied health professions-students in the PA and nursing programs, etc.) students and members of the Catholic Medical Association, who share the goals and beliefs of the CMA.
Section 2. WVU-CMA shall establish and maintain itself as a student chapter of the national CMA.
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
Section 1. The offices of this organization shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers will be elected for 1 year terms in the Spring/Summer preceding the term year. Liaisons to the PA, nursing etc. programs will be appointed by the President as members of those programs are interested.
Section 2. The duties of the President shall be to preside at all meetings of the organization, enforce the constitution, decide questions of order, and appoint committee heads. The duties of the Vice President shall be to preside at all meetings in the absence of the President and be ex-officio member of all committees. The duties of the Secretary shall be to keep records of the meetings, maintain the membership roster, take role, and handle correspondence. The duties of the Treasurer shall be to collect dues, keep books, make expenditures and render regular reports upon request.
ARTICLE V. FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Section 1. The Treasurer is designated as the account manager.
Section 2. All expenditures require two signatures: the account manager and the President. In the case of expenditures distributed to the account manager or President, the Secretary and whichever party is not being reimbursed will sign.
Section 3. The student organization’s advisor may request and review all financial documents at his/her discretion.
ARTICLE VI. MEETINGS
Section 1. The goal of the CMA-WVU is to have at least two meetings each semester. Meetings may include both social activities (including charitable fundraisers) and training/informative activities.
Section2. Special meetings may be called by the President. Meetings may take place both in person and virtually.
Section 3. Quorum shall be constituted by at least two executive board officers and any attending members.
Objectives
I) To assist members in fully living out their Catholic Faith, including in the exercise of their conscience, in the secular environment of medicine, and the sometimes stressful environment of medical school.
II) To be a source of mutual support for Catholic students of the WVU HSC, and a channel through which students can be made aware of resources such as the National Catholic Bioethics Center and Alliance Defending Freedom.
III) To assist members in being the best students and becoming the best physicians, PAs, nurses, etc. that they can be, through the imitation of Jesus Christ in their character and conduct.
