Clinical Informatics and AI in Medicine Interest Group
Mission
The purpose of the Clinical Informatics and AI in Medicine Interest Group is to expose students to the growing fi elds of clinical informatics and artifi cial intelligence in healthcare. The group will provide educational lectures, technical workshops, ethical discussions, and collaborative opportunities with professionals in informatics, data science, and medicine. The organization aims to foster interdisciplinary learning and prepare future clinicians to critically and responsibly engage with emerging technologies.

ARTICLE I – ORGANIZATION
The name of this organization shall be: Clinical Informatics and AI in Medicine Interest Group.
ARTICLE II – PURPOSE
The purpose of the Clinical Informatics and AI in Medicine Interest Group is to expose students to the growing fi elds of clinical informatics and artifi cial intelligence in healthcare. The group will provide educational lectures, technical workshops, ethical discussions, and collaborative opportunities with professionals in informatics, data science, and medicine. The organization aims to foster interdisciplinary learning and prepare future clinicians to critically and responsibly engage with emerging technologies.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Offi cial membership in the organization is open to any current student enrolled in the WVU School of Medicine. Students from other health, science, and technology programs at WVU are also encouraged to participate.
Section 2: “Active” membership shall include any member who attends at least one meeting or event per semester and expresses interest in participating in group activities.
Section 3: This organization will not deny membership on the basis of race, sex, age, disability, veteran status, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, color, or national origin.
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS
President: Responsible for coordinating offi cer meetings, setting the vision for the group, planning events, and overseeing elections.
Vice President: Assists the President and assumes their responsibilities if the President is unable to fulfi ll their duties.
Secretary: Maintains meeting records, manages group communication, and supports event logistics including room reservations and scheduling.
Treasurer: Manages the organization’s funds, tracks expenditures, and processes reimbursements for approved activities.
Outreach Chair: Leads efforts to connect with external speakers, mentors, and collaborators.
Education Chair: Coordinates journal clubs, technical workshops, and internal learning resources.
ARTICLE V – ELECTIONS
Elections will be held near the end of the academic year. If needed, a special election may be held at the midpoint of the year by consensus of the offi cers.
The President or a designated offi cer will notify students of open positions and election procedures.
Candidates will submit a brief letter of intent stating the position they are seeking and relevant qualifi cations.
Once all letters are received, current offi cers will vote to appoint incoming offi cers. In cases where positions are contested, a vote may be extended to active members.
ARTICLE VI – SPECIAL WVU REQUIREMENTS
We agree to abide by all West Virginia University and WVU School of Medicine policies, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws. We will also communicate all required information to the WVU Department of Student Services as requested.
