For graduating WVU medical student Abby Cowher, choosing a path in medicine meant finding a place that valued the human element as much as the clinical science. Drawn to the University's deep commitment to community and service, Cower has spent her medical school journey blending rigorous surgical research with meaningful local outreach

"There's just something about the kind of intensity of focus that you have in the operating room and the kind of impact that you get to have on people's lives that's so direct, so immediate. Surgery is what really made me feel kind of in awe of the medical field and the impact that I could have on others' lives," she said.
