Application Information
Dear Future Physician Anesthesiologist,
Welcome to the WVU Anesthesiology Residency Program, where innovation meets dedication in one of the most unique healthcare landscapes in the nation. Our program is anchored at Ruby Memorial Hospital, a premier partner in WVU Medicine. As a tertiary referral center, Ruby Memorial serves as the lifeline for West Virginia and parts of Maryland and Pennsylvania, offering a rich diversity of clinical cases that challenge and empower our residents every day.
West Virginia may rank low in many healthcare categories, but that's precisely what makes our program exceptional. Here, you'll encounter a patient population with complex and diverse needs, providing unparalleled learning opportunities that shape you into a skilled and compassionate anesthesiologist. Our residents graduate with the confidence and experience needed to handle any situation, a testament to the rigorous and rewarding training they receive at WVU.
As one of the state's few Level 1 Trauma Centers and the home of West Virginia's only Level 3B NICU, Ruby Memorial Hospital offers experiences that are truly second to none. Whether you're managing critical care in the trauma bay, caring for our tiniest patients in the NICU, or ensuring patient safety in the OR, you'll be part of a team that consistently rises to meet the challenges of a diverse and underserved population.
Our Anesthesiology Residency Program is fully accredited by the ACGME and offers nine categorical positions through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). We take pride in our commitment to training the next generation of anesthesiologists, and our residents are a testament to our program's excellence.
This year, we will be using AAMC's ERAS for application review. We begin reviewing applications in September and October, extending interview invitations on a rolling basis. Our interview process takes place from November through January of each academic cycle. In line with the SAAAPM recommendations, all interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom.
