Post-Graduation Success

Our residents consistently achieve remarkable post-graduation outcomes, with many successfully matching into prestigious fellowships and securing positions in private practice.

Fellowship Training Success (2019-2024):

  • 2019: 3 out of 6 residents pursued fellowships in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at Allegheny, Pediatric Anesthesia at UPMC, and Regional and Acute Pain at the University of Virginia.
  • 2020: 4 out of 6 residents matched into fellowships, including Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Pain Medicine at WVU, and Regional and Acute Pain at both WVU and UPMC.
  • 2021: 4 out of 6 residents continued their training in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Children's National and UPMC, Pain Medicine at WVU, and Adult Cardiothoracic & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Kentucky.
  • 2022: 7 out of 8 residents secured fellowships in Adult Cardiothoracic & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Nebraska and New York University, Pediatric Anesthesiology at UPMC, Pain Medicine at Penn State University and WVU, and Regional and Acute Pain at WVU and the University of North Carolina.
  • 2023: 5 out of 9 residents matched into fellowships, including Adult Cardiothoracic & Critical Care Medicine at WVU and the Cleveland Clinic, Pain Medicine at Stanford University, and Regional and Acute Pain at WVU.
  • 2024: 1 out of 9 residents has already secured a fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at WVU.

Board Examination Success

Our residency program boasts exceptional board examination results:

  • In-Training Examination: In the past year, all classes (CA1-CA3) achieved an average score above the 90th percentile nationally, with five perfect scores recorded over the last two years.
  • Advanced Examination: Over the past two years, our residents have maintained a 100% pass rate on the Advanced Examination.
  • Oral Board Examination: Our first-time pass rate for the Oral Board Examination stands at an impressive 93%.

These achievements underscore the rigorous training and comprehensive education provided by our program, preparing our residents for success in both their board examinations and future careers.
