Community Outreach and Engagement

Community Outreach and Engagement within the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) works to address our state and Appalachia’s most significant cancer burdens by engaging communities to improve cancer prevention, early detection, clinical trial participation, and quality of life.

We understand that if the problem is in the community, the solution rests with the community and have several programs facilitating this interaction.

Our Community Advisory Board fuels our work by sharing community needs and catalyzing research in all areas:

  • By helping us establish a research agenda
  • Disseminate and implement evidence-based interventions and guidelines
  • Influence public education, public health policy recommendations, and health policy.

The Department of Cancer Prevention and Control has over 35-years of experience working across the state and beyond in cancer prevention and control. If you are interested in partnering with us and/or working with the WVUCI Community Advisory Board, contact us at cpc@hsc.wvu.edu
