About

The Department of Internal Medicine Eastern Division offers a close-knit and welcoming learning environment for medical professionals and trainees. Our multidisciplinary faculty have trained, studied and served worldwide in various settings ranging from civilian to military and academic to private practice. We value different points of view as they are critical to the evolution of healthcare and education.

Our faculty is dedicated to helping address the unmet needs in our community as West Virginians face a large burden of chronic disease with high rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and chronic lung disease. IM faculty consistently improve their skills by teaching residents and medical students at the Berkeley Medical Center and surrounding clinics.

Academic rigor is critical to our innovation, from patient safety and quality improvement to original research. Our faculty promotes these high standards on campus, creating a culture of excellence, and allowing our residents to pursue fulfilling careers. The diverse experiences offered at the Eastern Campus bolster our residents to help them achieve our missions of service, research, and education to our community. We are looking to develop our Internal Medicine Residency Program by continuing to incorporate a variety of perspectives, creating healthcare built around collaboration and teamwork.
