What does a typical day in the life of a Rhematologist include?
Predominantly outpatient clinic visits with some inpatient consultation.
What is the biggest challenge of being a Rheumatologist?
Educating patients about their disease process, intervention and prognosis.
How do you foresee Rheumatology field changing over the next 20 years?
With a better understanding of disease processes we expect to see more refined classification criteria's, disease activity measures and targeted therapies in the near future.
What advice would you give a student who is considering a fellowship?
Since the subspecialty heavily relies on history taking and physical exam – one has to be an astute clinician to be a successful in the field. Subspecialty deals with wide array of disease process and you will never be bored.
