What does a typical day in the life of a pediatrician include?
I am in outpatient clinic 80% of my time, with 20% dedicated to research and scholarly activity; I cover hospital call 2 weeks of every month. I typically work on reading echos, completing charts etc in between. We provide didactics at least once a month to residents and separately to medical students each block.
What is the biggest challenge of being a pediatrician?
Time management; Solo practice
How do you foresee pediatrics changing over the next 20 years?
Advances in imaging, surgical and interventional procedures for kids with congenital heart disease.
What advice would you give a student who is considering a pediatric residency?
It is an exciting field and no matter what changes are coming, the changes are for the betterment of the field. I would love to mentor anyone interested in this field!
