What does a typical day in the life of an orthopaedic doctor include?

A typical day includes, being in clinic seeing athletes and other patients with sports-related conditions or being the operating room operating on these patients.  I also spend a considerable amount of time seeing athletes in the training room or providing sideline medical coverage at sporting events.

What is the biggest challenge of being a orthopaedic doctor?

Balancing time commitments.

How do you foresee orthopaedics changing over the next 20 years?

I see a movement towards involvement of more tissue engineering.

What advice would you give a student who is considering a orthopaedic residency?

Find a good mentor and have a well thought out plan on how to best obtain an Orthopaedic residency position.
