 What does a typical day in the life of a Pulmonologist/Administrator/Educator include?

-General pulmonary outpatient clinic two days per week, Pulmonary nodule clinic one afternoon per week and bronchoscopies every other week.

-educational planning and administrative responsibilities the other days of the week.

What is the biggest challenge of being a Pulmonologist/Administrator/Educator?

-balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities.

How do you foresee my job changing over the next 20 years?

-There will be greater use of computers/Artificial Intelligence to help with diagnosis and treatment of Internal Medicine and Pulmonary issues.

-There will be an increase in need for Physicians/Administrators

-Medical Education will continue to evolve with an emphasis on efficiency in training

What advice would you give a student who is considering an Internal Medicine residency?

-Internal Medicine training is the foundation for non-surgical adult care and allows flexibility in pursuing a career oriented to patient care or as a lead in to fellowship training or to a career that incorporates administrative responsibilities.
