Letter from the Program Director
Welcome! The West Virginia University Transitional Year Residency Program provides a strong foundation in basic clinical skills while allowing the flexibility to pursue your advanced specialty interests. Our expanding program currently trains 13 residents and has an ACGME Continued Accreditation Status.
The majority of the TY residency training occurs in Morgantown at the clinical campus of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center and WVU Medicine's flagship hospital J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Our residents also have the opportunity to work at the Veterans Administration Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Westover.
Morgantown is a beautiful, University town located about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh. We are surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers so the area offers numerous outdoor recreational activities like boating, hiking and skiing. The University and its community also provide year round cultural events and sporting activities.
We invite you to come for a visit. Please contact us for more information.
