Outreach
The Department of Neuroscience hosts numerous outreach events each semester. Some of our signature programs include the Feed Our Brains Campaign, the Train Our Brains Initiative, Brain Camp, Brain Awareness Week, and the Northern West Virginia Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience! The Department of Neuroscience also takes part in various events around the community, including; the Morgantown Zombie Walk, the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Science Day at SPARK! Imagination and Science Center, WVU Trunk or Treat, Walk MS Morgantown, and various activities with local Girl Scout Troops.
Feed Our Brains Campaign
The Feed Our Brains campaign aims to pay off overdue student lunch balances at elementary and middle schools in greater Monongalia County as well as introduce students to neuroscience through games and activities.
Train Our Brains Initiative
The Train Our Brains initiative aims to promote understanding end interest in the central nervous system and how it works through a variety of community activities.
Brain Camp
A co-ed, overnight summer camp open to high school students entering 11th & 12th grade with an interest in neuroscience.
Brain Awareness Week
Each year during Brains Awareness Week, The Department of Neuroscience's students and faculty visit various schools to teach kids about the brain and neuroscience.
Northern West Virginia Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience
The Northern West Virginia Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience serves as support network for scientists and students interested in neuroscience and communicates research activities and a basic understanding of neuroscience to the general public through outreach.
