The WVU Department of Neuroscience and Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute are thrilled to unveil the dates for the highly anticipated 2025 Brain Camp! Mark your calendars for an immersive experience scheduled from July 6th to July 12th, 2025. This co-ed summer camp is tailor-made for high school students entering the 11th and 12th grades.

Join us for an unforgettable week of exploration, discovery, and hands-on activities designed to ignite your passion for neuroscience. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the brain while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of West Virginia University's Morgantown Campus.

Enrollment is limited to 30 students, and admission is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Secure your spot early to ensure you don't miss out on this unique opportunity! The cost of the camp is $800, with limited financial aid available upon request.

During Brain Camp 2025, students will engage in a dynamic series of presentations and demonstrations led by the esteemed faculty and graduate students of the Department of Neuroscience. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity for high school students entering the 11th and 12th grades to delve into a diverse range of captivating topics, including:

  • Basic lab safety, research ethics, & the scientific process
  • Neuroanatomy (yes, there will be brains!)
  • Effects of light at night
  • Addiction and drug use
  • Impacts of stroke, cognitive aging, brain plasticity, & traumatic brain injuries
  • Behavior models
  • Human neuro-psych testing
  • Neurophysiological assessment for improving human performance
  • Motion capture and computer simulations of the human body
  • And more!

Throughout the week, students will reside in the comfort of WVU's Oakland Hall, an on-campus residence hall. The comprehensive camp package includes housing, meals, and transportation during the program. As part of the experience, evening programs and social outings will be organized, providing opportunities for camaraderie and enrichment beyond the classroom. Additionally, a WVU Tour Guide will lead a campus tour, allowing students to familiarize themselves with the vibrant surroundings.
