Director's Letter
Welcome!
We are glad you are looking at West Virginia University, the best choice for neurosurgery training. At WVU, we train outstanding neurosurgeons with the knowledge and experience to provide the highest quality care, and advance the knowledge base upon which the practice of neurosurgery depends. We have been training residents since 1966, and are quite proud of the many accomplished physicians who have trained or worked here at West Virginia University.
The program at WVU emphasizes a broad and rigorous exposure to all the subspecialties of neurosurgery. The faculty at WVU are diverse with respect to their own training and experiences. The residents are exposed to a broad clinical experience with deep expertise in the management of neurosurgical disease. The neurosurgery residents obtain all clinical training at one institution, maximizing training by minimizing unnecessary travel between hospitals. As the largest provider of neurosurgical care in the region, our residents are exposed to all aspects of neurosurgical disease. Our seven year training program also allows for ample time to pursue independent study in the neurosciences or more focused clinical experience in an area of interest.
Morgantown is a beautiful college town located in the mountains of West Virginia. Outdoor recreation is plentiful, cost of living is low, and crime is minimal. Morgantown is within easy access of Pittsburgh and Washington, DC. We are an ideal place for exceptional graduating medical students to train, and we look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
