Arruda named Reviewer of the Year by national journal
John “Brandon” Arruda, MSN, APRN, AGNP-C, CUNP, has been named the 2025 Reviewer of the Year by the Urologic Nursing Journal for his contributions as a urologic oncology manuscript reviewer. A certified urologic nurse practitioner and member of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates, Arruda also has served on the Journal’s reviewer panel for several years where he helps advance published research in the field.
As a reviewer, Arruda plays a vital role in the scholarly process including reading and evaluating manuscripts submitted for publication, assessing the accuracy of cited literature, suggesting revisions, and collaborating with the editorial board to ensure that only the most evidence-based, relevant, and high-quality articles reach publication. His feedback has been instrumental in shaping the evolving discourse of urologic oncology.
“The Urologic Nursing Reviewer of the Year Award showcases a reviewer whose input reflects the state of contemporary urology care and offers specific, peer-reviewed feedback,” Susanne Quallich, Ph.D., editor-in-chief, Urologic Nursing, said. “Mr. Arruda provided insightful and precise recommendations that helped ensure each article was as evidence-based as possible.”
At the WVU Cancer Institute, Arruda serves as an advanced practice provider in the Urologic Oncology Division where he cares for patients with bladder, kidney and prostate cancers. He coordinates multidisciplinary care and ensures timely access to specialized treatment for patients across the WVU Medicine network.
