Call for Submissions for Medical Humanities Magazine "Synapses"

Do you enjoy writing poetry, painting or photography? Or do you have other artistic hobbies such as jewelry-making, sculpture, pottery or wood-working? The West Virginia University Department of Neurology would like to showcase your talents in the third volume of our art and literary magazine called, "Synapses."

The name of the magazine is aptly named, "Synapses," as a reference to the connections between neurons, just as the goal of the magazine is to promote connections between patients and their medical providers. This project invites everyone, including medical students, residents, faculty, nurses, clinical associates, technicians, patients and family members of patients to participate. There is no specific theme, but most of the pieces have been inspired by experiences in the medical realm. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis through January 15th, 2025. Everyone published in the magazine will be invited to a special reception at WVU in Spring 2025, where the magazine will be distributed and the works inside will be celebrated.

This project is part of the ACGME Back to Bedside Initiative. For any questions or to submit to the magazine, please email WVUSynapses@gmail.com. Please see our website for past editions of the magazine: https://medicine.hsc.wvu.edu/neurology/synapses-magazine/.
