Center for Quality Outcomes announces new director, patient experience efforts
The WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals Center for Quality Outcomes has appointed a new director and is now coordinating efforts around the patient experience.
Rebekah Matuga, PharmD, CPHQ, who has worked at WVU Medicine for 14 years, was named the department's new director in April. Previously, she held the following positions: ambulatory clinical pharmacy specialist in the Inpatient Pharmacy; pharmacy clinical specialist and program coordinator in the Center for Quality Outcomes; director of collaborative partnerships at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute; and, most recently, pharmacy manager, Ambulatory and Transitions of Care.
"Rebekah and I have worked closely together for many years," said Michael Sweet, PharmD, CPHQ, assistant vice president, Center for Quality Outcomes. "She not only brings a high level of qualifications and experience to the Quality team, she brings passion and energy for serving patients and the organization every day."
The Center for Quality Outcomes has added the patient experience to its areas of responsibility. Efforts to improve the patient experience are being led by Terry Kisner, BA, RRT, LSSBB, a veteran member of the department, who started as a respiratory therapist at WVU Hospitals 24 years ago. He is joined by Ken Phares, who recently transferred from Nutrition Services.
"Terry brings a high level of commitment and expertise to the Quality team – and especially in improving our patient experience – and has started our journey to being a hospital that patients praise," said Sweet.
