Chief medical officer for CDC’s National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey Health Sciences seminar postponed

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s chief medical officer for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey will host a seminar titled, “NHANES: The Experience and the Impact,” at the WVU Health Sciences Center on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room G119A and B.

Dr. Duong “Tony” Nguyen, principal investigator of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) will focus on the survey’s role in public health and its upcoming activities in Morgantown and surrounding areas.

Dr. Nguyen, a pediatrician and active-duty officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, has worked with NHANES since his time with the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service. He later became NHANES’s chief medical officer, where he oversees clinical operations and provides medical guidance for health examinations.

His career also includes serving as a Brigade Surgeon in Iraq, responding to the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, and providing medical care at the U.S.-Mexico border.
