Chief Operations Officer Ron Pellegrino provides Parking Advisory Team update
To all WVU Medicine employees:
In October 2019, prior to COVID-19, a Parking Advisory Team (PAT) was established to provide suggestions and feedback to administration regarding employee parking. Members included Melissa Burkovich, Ronald Burris, Michela Dolde, Virginia Elliott, Grenavillle Guthrie, Vicki Kerwin, Ricky Layton, Laura Lipscomb, Catherine Mayle, Kimberly Orban, Jenni Shahan, and Megan Wright. The detailed work and commitment of this team has far exceeded our expectations.
On Feb. 26, the team presented its findings and recommendations, which have been reviewed and evaluated by executive leadership. Although it is evident that our on-site parking situation has changed significantly with COVID-19, we are continuing to plan for our return to normal operations. To that end, many of the suggestions from the PAT are being considered for implementation, including an electronic parking availability tracking system, virtual parking permits, and improved parking safety features.
The PAT will continue to be a valuable resource to administration as we continue to navigate ongoing parking opportunities once the recovery phase of COVID-19 begins, as well as the opening of our new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital in 2021. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on our parking priorities amidst the pandemic, and please know that these efforts are being worked on as time allows. Please continue to be safe in both your professional and personal life.
Thank you,
Ron Pellegrino, MD
