Employees invited to participate in chronic pain self-management program
WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center will offer a free program to those dealing with chronic pain.
Living Well, a chronic pain self-management program, will be offered virtually on five consecutive Thursdays, starting Jan. 20, from 5-7 p.m. The program is open to WVU Medicine employees, as well as the general public.
The virtual program, available via Zoom, will include workshops that focus on these topics:
- Techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, stress, and poor sleep
- Appropriate exercise to maintain/improve strength, flexbility, and endurance
- Appropriate use of medication
- More about the pain and symptom cycle and successful ways of dealing with difficult emotions
- How to work with your healthcare team
Living Well was developed by the Patient Education Research Center at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
