Dental students represent WVU at district conference

Members of the American Student Dental Association at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry recently traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to represent the university at the national organization’s District 6 Conference. Held Jan. 17-19, the annual event brings together dental students and leaders from across the region to advance education and the profession.

WVU dental students participated in a variety of events at the annual American Student Dental Association District 6 Conference, including an Après Ski-themed networking social.

Students enrolled in the WVU Doctor of Dental Surgery program who attended the conference were Keerthana Arjuna, Kaitlyn Crist, Sydni Harris-Evans, Jaclyn Montag, Madelyn Owen, Lucas Pintirsch, Rachel Reppert, Ashley Ruza, Kaitlin Santmyers and Chris VonScio.

Throughout the weekend, students had the opportunity to hear from American Dental Association President Dr. Brett Kessler, attend a panel discussion with members of the ADA New Dentist Committee, participate in breakout sessions and roundtable discussions, browse a vendor fair, and enjoy social events with fellow dental students.

The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests and welfare of dental students. Membership benefits include access to valuable resources across a variety of needs, including career support, licensure, health and wellness, scholarships and finances, and more.

At WVU, all Doctor of Dental Surgery students are members of the school’s ASDA chapter.
