Department of Medicine adds new communications specialist role
Haleigh Fields was recently named a communications specialist for the WVU School of Medicine. In this newly created position, Fields will be working with the school’s communications and marketing team, primarily serving the Department of Medicine.
In this role, Fields will work to promote the Department’s missions and goals, execute communications and marketing strategies, and help enhance internal and external communications efforts.
“This is a position that has been needed in the department for some time and we are all looking forward to being able to move the department forward with a more clear and consistent profile for both our internal and external audiences,” said Arif Sarwari, M.D., chair of the Department of Medicine.
Fields is a West Virginia native and a two-time graduate of West Virginia University, studying strategic communications as an undergrad and recently graduating from the integrated marketing communications master’s program.
During her time as a WVU student, she worked with the Reed College of Media’s Innovation Center as a communications assistant, interned with WVU Extension Service in their communications and marketing department. She also served as the communications manager for the WVU EcoCAR student project.
