Eastern Campus medical students celebrate Match Day 2022

The West Virginia University School of Medicine Eastern Campus recently celebrated Match Day as fourth-year medical students were given their letters and found out where they will be completing their residency training.

The event was held at the Purple Iris at Hartwood Mansion in Martinsburg on Friday, March 18. Fourth-year medical students from the Eastern Campus were in attendance along with their families and members of the Eastern Campus faculty and staff.

The 10 students from the School of Medicine Eastern Campus Class of 2022 received their match letters on Friday. Six students were able to attend the celebration in Martinsburg and two students attended the Match Day ceremony in Morgantown. Two students will continue their medical education at WVU with matches to the University’s plastic surgery and internal medicine residency programs, while the eight other students matched to various programs across the country.   • Family Medicine – Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas
  • Family Medicine – University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
  • General Surgery – Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, Va.
  • Internal Medicine – Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va.
  • Internal Medicine – West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va.
  • Orthopedic Research – Rush University, Chicago, Ill.
  • Orthopedic Research – University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
  • Pediatrics – Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio
  • Pediatrics – Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, N.Y.
  • Plastic Surgery (Integrated) – West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va.

“We are so proud of our students for what they have accomplished throughout these past four years, the last two of which having been among the most challenging in health care,” said Eastern Campus Dean Emma Eggleston, M.D., M.P.H. “It is always a special day getting to meet everyone’s family and friends, and to see their reactions as they open their letters and find out where they will take the next step in the amazing journey that is a career in medicine.”
