Peds Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC. Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC. If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

Health & Resiliency Program Yoga (formerly Karma Yoga) – *TENTATIVELY CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE* Wednesdays, Jan. 8-Dec. 30, 5:00-7:00pm, in Eastern HSC Mountaineer Room. Free sessions for employees and medical students to promote wellness. Supplies are limited; if you have yoga equipment, you are encouraged to bring it to the classes.

Volunteers for HSTA – The local HSTA (Health Sciences & Technology Academy) clubs are looking for speakers to present at meetings in November. Presentations can be science or healthcare related. Fun Volunteer Opportunity – Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, 238 W. Washington Street, Charles Town. 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning at 10am. Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations. Help needed with setup, tear-down, cooking process, and interacting with patrons. For additional information, contact: Dr. Audreanna James (audreanna.james@wvumedicine.org). Volunteers Needed – Chronic illness group and their support system is looking for speakers to give 45-minute presentations on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings held 9-10:30am in the Dorothy McCormack Center, 2nd floor conference room. Topics can be health-related, inspirational, supportive, educational about coping mechanisms, sharing a story/experience, or a fun activity. Community Service – Remember to check your logged community service hours to be sure you have completed the 100-hour requirement for graduation. If you still need community service hours, contact Eastern Student Services for volunteer opportunities.

Dr. Amie Ashcraft is seeking MS3 and MS4 students to participate in pilot testing an interactive, multimedia, CDC-funded app-delivered training that teaches current and future healthcare providers to identify and report children being sexually exploited or trafficked. Participants will complete two course modules (a total of about 1.5 hours in length) as well as a pre-test survey before (20-30 minutes) and post-test survey after (20-30 minutes) the training. Participants will have access to the training materials and surveys between 4/23/20 and 4/27/20 and can complete them at their convenience during this period from the device of their choice (smartphone, tablet, computer). Up to 40 participating students will receive a $100 electronic gift card from Amazon.com. Interested students should email Dr. Ashcraft at amashcraft@hsc.wvu.edu to sign up

Graduation – Class of 2020 Commencement will be held via a single, virtual graduation experience on Sat., May 16th. May graduates will be permitted the opportunity to participate in a live graduation ceremony in December. If you have purchased regalia and would like a refund, contact Peggy Frum at peggy.frum@mail.wvu.edu. Additional details will be forthcoming.

MS3 Class of 2021

V-Scans – Eastern Campus has been loaned 8 ultrasound V-Scan portable machines for student use during your rotations – 2 scanners each for Family Med, Internal Med, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The units are available for checkout in the Student Services office. Please contact Christa (christa.schwoerer.m@wvumedicine.org) or Michelle (alderm@wvumedicine.org) to sign out a unit for use on rotation.
