Important Dates:

Peds Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC. Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC. If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

Health & Resiliency Program Yoga – Tuesdays, 7:00am and Wednesdays, 6:30pm, in pavilion behind McCormack Center on BMC campus. Free sessions for employees and medical students to promote wellness. Bring your own yoga equipment and stay at least 10 feet apart.

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities

Stepping Stones/Good Samaritan Free Clinic – Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm. New location: 601 S. Raleigh Street, Martinsburg. To volunteer or for additional information: Cosby Potter-Davis – cosby.davis@comcast.net

Volunteers for HSTA – The local HSTA (Health Sciences & Technology Academy) clubs are looking for speakers to present at meetings in November. Presentations can be science or healthcare related. If interested, please contact Kenneth (HSTA Field Site Coordinator): Kenneth.emeni@hsc.wvu.edu for dates/times or additional information.

Volunteers Needed – Chronic illness group and their support system is looking for speakers to give 45-minute presentations on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings held 9-10:30am in the Dorothy McCormack Center, 2nd floor conference room. Topics can be health-related, inspirational, supportive, educational about coping mechanisms, sharing a story/experience, or a fun activity. MS4 Class of 2021

We were alerted that students must complete a questionnaire prior to having a required mask-fit test for anesthesiology and other rotations on the Morgantown campus. Please complete the questionnaire, which is located in the OSHA Sole course. You will need to present these questionnaire results prior to having a mask fit test.

Health Update – Please remember to complete the two health update questions and email to Jane Horst (horstj@wvumedicine.org) on Monday morning prior to beginning your rotation each week.

Dean’s Conferences – If you have not already done so, please contact Jane Horst to schedule your Zoom conference with Dr. Lorenzetti. Remember to prepare a draft CV and personal statement ready for your conference.

MS3 Class of 2022

V-Scans – Eastern Campus has been loaned 8 ultrasound V-Scan portable machines for student use during your rotations – 2 scanners each for Family Med, Internal Med, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The units are available for checkout in the Student Services office. Please contact Christa (christa.schwoerer.m@wvumedicine.org) or Michelle (alderm@wvumedicine.org) to sign out a unit for use on rotation.
