Items of interest may include: 1. Case report studies (unusual presentations of common diagnoses or usual presentation of uncommon diagnoses) which have a learning component for others 2. Original research in the community arena of medical issues a. new educational formats and outcomes b. new ways of doing a techniques/procedures or outcomes of community involvement and education c. clinical practice innovations and outcomes 3. Quality improvement projects (e.g. chart reviews done to discover areas of possible improvement in clinical practice - a. uncover the percentage of heart failure patents are on ACE’s inhibitors in a practice, and if less than standard of care- what can be done to improve care b. the percentage of new mom’s breast feeding and what can be done to improve that number c. post-op complications due to catheter infections – what can be done to reduce that number Abstracts were due by February 14, 2022. There are cash awards for the top place winners, beginning with $500 for first place, and top winners are invited to explain their posters to the attendees as part of the Saturday conference. Be thinking now of what you may want to put on your poster- and more than one person may be on the poster (several students; faculty and student; resident and student etc.) it may depend on number of charts reviewed or data analyzed. Our research assistants – Carla Toolan carla.toolan@wvumedicine.org and Nathan Fiore nathan.fiore@wvumedicine.org - available by appointment to help. Dr. Eggleston met with the class to explore their initial ideas in August- so contact the Eastern campus Student Services Deans if you have an idea and they will help refer you to an interested Faculty member who may share your passion.
