Community Service Hours – As part of your graduation requirement, you must complete 100 hours of community service. Please remember to document what you have already completed, and plan to start early on completing any additional hours needed, since opportunities are limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Community Mini-Med School – Tues., Jan. 19th, 7:00pm, via online lecture on WVU Medicine East Facebook page. Topic: “New Innovations in Neurosurgery” presented by Dr. Jonathan Sherman – Director of Surgical Neuro-Oncology, WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute-Eastern Campus.

OB/GYN M&M – Thur., Jan. 21st, 6:00-8:00pm via Zoom. Topic: “Misdiagnoses of Ectopic Pregnancy” presented by Dr. Arifa Khokar and MSIII Sreyas Menon.

Peds Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC. Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC. If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

Wellness Center Virtual Classes – The Wellness Center at BMC is offering a variety of virtual Web-Ex fitness classes free of charge for members, WVU Medicine East staff, and providers. Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities

Stepping Stones/Good Samaritan Free Clinic – Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm. New location: 601 S. Raleigh Street, Martinsburg. To volunteer or for additional information: Cosby Potter-Davis – cosby.davis@comcast.net

Volunteers Needed – Chronic illness group and their support system is looking for speakers to give 45-minute presentations on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings held 9-10:30am in the Dorothy McCormack Center, 2nd floor conference room. Topics can be health-related, inspirational, supportive, educational about coping mechanisms, sharing a story/experience, or a fun activity. MSIV Scheduling Suggestions – A scheduling meeting will be held for the current MSIII class on Fri., Jan. 15th, 1:00-3:00pm. Interview Space – Limited space is available at Eastern HSC for students who may need a quiet space for their virtual residency interviews. Please use your own equipment (laptop, A/V, ethernet, special lighting). To reserve a space, please contact Christa Schwoerer (christa.schwoerer.m@wvumedicine.org).

MS3 Class of 2022

V-Scans – Eastern Campus has been loaned 8 ultrasound V-Scan portable machines for student use during your rotations – 2 scanners each for Family Med, Internal Med, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The units are available for checkout in the Student Services office. Please contact Christa (christa.schwoerer.m@wvumedicine.org) or Michelle (alderm@wvumedicine.org) to sign out a unit for use on rotation.
