Badge distribution for Ecolab hand hygiene system continues

Starting Tuesday, Feb. 16, Ecolab will be onsite to distribute badges to employees and providers in all inpatient care areas at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital. The last day for distribution is Friday, Feb. 19. After that date, badges will be delivered by Ecolab staff to each department or unit’s leadership.

The badges are part of the Ecolab Hand Hygiene Compliance Monitoring System, which allows accurate recording of hand hygiene, while holding each healthcare worker accountable for their compliance and providing actionable guidance for improvement. The system will help hospital staff achieve and sustain results and deliver better patient outcomes, and provide a safer working environment.

DISTRIBUTION METHODS

Providers:

Ecolab employees will be available in the conference rooms listed below under “office” hours. The badges will be boxed and separated by department and by individual. Some of the larger departments may wish to bring a cart and plan for multiple boxes.

Pharmacy and ancillary departments:

Ecolab will be available in the conference rooms listed below under “office” hours. Badges will be boxed and separated by department and by individual. Deliveries to departments can be organized. Please make arrangementse with Neil Bennett at ext.75303. Please utilize your internal departmental communication to distribute directly to your employees.

Nursing units:

Ecolab will round multiple times during the week on each unit to try to distribute badges to as many nursing staff as possible. Any badges unable to be distributed by Friday, Feb. 19, will be brought to the departmental/unit leadership to aid with distribution directly to the employees.

“Office” hours:

Ecolab staff will also be available during the following times and locations for anyone who has any questions concerning the badges, dispensers, or the system itself:

Post-distribution notes:

  • All new hospital employees whose role requires an Ecolab badge will receive one via Human Resources upon their hire.
  • In addition, these employees will also be auto assigned the Ecolab Badge CBL.
  • Lost or broken badges are $15 each and can be obtained at Human Resources (WVU Medicine Corporate Office Building).
  • If an employee leaves, please ask that they turn in their Ecolab badge to their supervisor on their last shift. Please return these badges to Human Resources as they can be distributed to new hires.
