Kelley named FASEB President Elect

Eric Kelley has been elected as president-elect of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), a group of 22 scientific societies that advances health and well-being by promoting research and education in biological and biomedical sciences through collaborative advocacy. Kelley has been a long time FASEB representative, serving on the Board of Directors and is currently vice president of science policy. He will begin his term as president-elect in July 2024 and ascend to the president position in July 2025.

Kelley is currently professor and associate chair of research in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He received his doctorate in Free Radical Biology at the University of Iowa (cancer background) and conducted his postdoctoral studies at the Center for Free Radical Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (cardiovascular background). After serving as faculty in the Department of Anesthesiology and director of the Vascular Medicine INstitute's Free Radical Facility at the University of Pittsburgh (cardiopulmonary/obesity background), he joined WVU's Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. His research focuses on redox in the context of obesity/diabetes as well as cancer.
