Fourth occupational therapy alumni earns stroke certification
The WVU Division of Occupational Therapy is proud to announce the recent success of alumni Megan Staab, OTR/L, CSRS. A graduate in the WVU MOT Class of 2020, Staab earned the rigorous Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS™) credential on June 29, 2021. The CSRS™ is the field’s only stroke certification for occupational and physical therapists. Certification includes in-depth, hands-on training in stroke rehabilitation along with a rigorous examination.
Servicing the needs of patients in the greater Pittsburgh area at UPMC McKeesport, Staab provides occupational therapy services in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and a skilled transitional care unit. Staab reports that serving patients in these three areas has allowed for a smooth continuum of care.
According to Staab, the West Virginia University Division of Occupational Therapy initiated her interest in the stroke rehabilitation and "provided me with a great foundation of knowledge that I am able to build off" with the CSRS certification. Staab joins three other occupational therapy alumni who have achieved this certification.
Congratulations on your accomplishments, Megan! Let's Go Mountaineers.
