Get healthier with the Finding Wellness Program

The Finding Wellness program is about making better choices, not following orders, says Gwen Emery, MD, director of the WVU Medicine program.

More than an abrupt change in diet or exercise, Finding Wellness is a way to gradually incorporate elements of a healthy lifestyle into our daily lives until making better choices, including shopping for food, becomes a way of life.

In its fourth year, the program has been typically composed of WVU Medicine patients. But now, the program’s administrators are looking to recruit employees from around the entire WVU Medicine system to participate. The next program begins Tuesday, March 2, and enrollment is now open for virtual classes via Webex. Contact Jaclyn Murray at murrayjac@wvumedicine.org or 304-293-2604 to sign up. Participants will be asked to provide their name, height, weight, date of birth, and have their A1C checked at the beginning and end of the series.

Along with direct health benefits, this year, Finding Wellness will be part of the incentive platform for the Wellness Rewards Initiative for the cost savings on the WVU Medicine employee health insurance plan. Participating and completing the requirements will earn points toward this incentive. Program details will be announced this spring.
